Okay, I was expecting this week’s shipment to be small and, generally, of no consequence. Those jerks at Marvel, DC, and everywhere else, however, decided to load us down AGAIN with a huge shipment – the third week in a row that our shipment has been considerably larger than normal. That said, there are some books shipping this week that have been a long time coming. Read on for details:
All Star Batman & Robin #3 – That’s right, ladies and gentlemen; the third issue of this landmark series is FINALLY rearing its beautiful head. Everyone’s been asking, and now, at long last, it’s on its way. Come, buy it, and rejoice.
New Avengers #14 – So this book isn’t exactly late, but it is really, really, really good. I highly recommend that everyone pick it up immediately. That’s why I’m highlighting it and taking the time to write this űber-special paragraph about it. This effort should cause you to recognize the awesomeness of this book and feel compelled to buy it. Please inform me as the success of this ploy as soon as possible. Thank you.
Superman/Batman #23 – Yaaaaawwwwwwwwnnn…That’s right; Rip van Winkle has reawakened, and the next issue of this series finally came out. It waited 20 years (or so it seems), and it finally emerged into the brilliant light of day. History will judge if that’s a good thing or a bad thing, but you can read it and assist in that determination, if you like.
Testament #1 – The Bible continues – sort of. This new series shows where the U.S. is going as a result of things like the Patriot Act, and it has weird correlations to Biblical events. All in all, this is definitely a thinking man’s comic. It also happens to be a really impressive, thought-provoking read. I’ve read it already; that’s why it sounds like I know what I’m talking about.
Ultimate Fantastic Four #26 – Sweeeeet! The introduction of Ultimate Namor has been nothing short of impressive so far, and I’ve been enjoying the heck out of this storyline. The story has been fantastic, and the art work is gorgeous. Pick it up, pick up the previous two issues, read them all: enjoy.
What If?! – What if Daredevil were born in feudal Japan and acquired his blindness and unusual powers there? What if Thor were the herald of Galactus? You can read these cool What It?! issues and find out for yourself! Go on; you know you want to…
Wolverine #37 - Wolverine's got his memories back as a result of House of M. He remembers who he is, where he came from, how old he is, all the people from his past who have died - everything. He doesn't know what became of everyone though, or how things all connected up. So this story is starting to answer a few questions for him and for us, and it ties directly back to the old Origin mini-series that came out a couple of years ago. This storyline has been awesome!!!
X-Factor #2 – The first issue of this series kicked much booty. The second issue should do no less, especially since the first issue ended with such a (forgive the pun) cliff-hanger. Peter David is at his best in a book like this where he can blend a lot of humor, pathos, action, and suspense into a team book. This is awesome!
