Battlestar Galactica #0 – That’s right; the reimagined and revived ‘70s sci-fi show that’s kicking tail and taking names is getting its own comic series. Yes – right again! These comics based on TV shows usually do stink to high heaven. This one says its going to be different and, to put its money where its mouth is (so to speak), they’re offering this initial issue for a measly 25 cents. That’s right: a quarter. You can afford to take the risk, I’m thinking.

Blackbeard Legacy #1 – One of the most infamous of all the pirates is Captain Edward Teach, affectionately known as Blackbeard. He went through more wives than Henry VIII, but one of the things that bothered him most was that he never fathered a son. One of his daughters, however, decides to follow in his piratical footsteps after his death. If you were a fan of Crossgen’s El Cazador, this story looks to be much in the same vein. Can’t wait to check it out!

Ion #2 – Kyle Rainer is out save the universe, and he seems to enjoy is job. All you Kyle Rainer fans better watch out – rumor has it something major happens in this issue!!

My Inner Bimbo #1 – To be honest with you, I have to order these comics about two months ahead of time, and I completely forgot about this one. I remember that the title cracked me up, and that the book actually looked a pretty darn funny comic, so I ordered it. I don’t remember what it’s about or even who publishes it, but make me feel better about my ordering instincts – buy it!

Ultimate Extinction #5 – This is the last issue, boys and girls. Who, exactly, is going to save the earth from certain destruction at the hands(?) of Gah Lak Tus?! Will it be Jean Grey as the Phoenix, or will it be Reed Richards with his newly invented Ultimate Nullifier? Man, I don’t know either, but I can’t wait to find out. We’ve been waiting on this issue for a long time, and I’m anxious to see where this goes. Now if only Ultimate Wolverine vs Hulk would come out…

Ultimate Fantastic Four #30 – The Marvel Zombies are baaaaaaaaack! Yep, they were first introduced in this series about 8 months back or so, and now the zombified, infected FF from that other dimension are about to escape the holding cell in the Baxter Building where the Ultimate FF have been holding them prisoner for a while, and this is the first issue of this story arc. Since we all know how powerful these Zombies are, this should be a really interesting and, if true to Marvel Zombies form, disgusting read. Mmm, mmm! Finger-licking good!

In case you scanned the list of this week’s titles and didn’t notice it, we’ve got a fair number of trades coming in this week. Check out all these titles that are coming in:

• Alias vol 1 TP – All about Jessica Jones, newly married to Luke Cage of the New Avengers.
• Asterix and the Falling Sky HC – Everybody loves Europe’s best (only?!) comic hero!
• Five Fists of Science GN – This just looks flat-out awesome!
• Global Frequency: Detonation Radio TP – One of Warren Ellis’ most incredible stories.
• Invincible vol 4: Head of the Class TP – Kind of like the Incredibles, only…not. Great series; you should give it a read.
• Ocean TP – Another great Warren Ellis story – what a mind-warp!
• Superman/Batman vol 1: Public Enemies TP – The fan-favorite first story arc featuring the new World’s Finest in action.
• Ultimate Spider-Man vol 1: Power & Responsibility TP – The story that started Marvel’s entire Ultimate line, and it is, without a doubt, INCREDIBLE.
• Ultimates vol 1 TP – The Ultimate Avengers get an incredible start in the issues collected. This is a whole new universe for the Avengers, and Mark Millar really takes advantage of that. Fantastic stuff!

See you at Haven!!
