Civil War #1: Director’s Cut – If you somehow missed the first issue of this landmark series (ie – you were off-planet at the time) or if you just like to catch all the DVD-style extra features, this is the book for you. Marvel has been following up initial releases with Director’s Cuts instead of simply reprinting issues and causing confusion over print runs. That’s usually a good thing and, in this instance, those extra features should be very helpful.
Fables #51 – After the heart-warming events of the giant-sized Fables #50, you just know that this issue is going to throw everyone right back into the thick of things. If you’re not reading this book, ask me about the trades and we’ll find a way to get you involved – this book is one of the best comics out there, bar none.
Ghost Rider #1 - After the hit mini-series last year and the upcoming feature movie, Ghost Rider is getting his own series. This time around, it'll be written by Garth Ennis (who wrote the mini-series), with art by Mark Texiera and Javier Salteres. No, this isn't the incredible computer-generated art work from the mini-series, but these are two very good, very accomplished artists, and the story picks up where that mini-series left off. If you liked the taste you got last year, pick this series up for the whole apple!
Next #1 - A group of super-powered individuals bring chaos — and a new super-villain — with them when they cross over from another dimension into the DC Universe!
Ultimate Fantastic Four #31 – The zombified FF from the Marvel Zombies dimension makes a break for it from the holding cell the Ultimate FF have had them in and, as you can imagine, chaos ensues! If you enjoyed Marvel Zombies, you definitely need to tune in and catch this story arc.
Ultimate Spider-Man #97 – Bendis and Bagley are closing in on the Stan Lee/Jack Kirby record of most consecutive comics ever produced by a single writer/artist team, and they’re doing it on a book that absolutely still has it. When this book first hit the shelves, there were a lot of naysayers out there who thought it was a bad idea. The story was so good, though, that it just ended up blowing everyone away and becoming one of the most popular comics of the last 10 years. They’re almost at 100 issues, and the book is still going strong – pick it up and give it a read!
See you at Haven!
