Batman #657 – This Grant Morrison/Andy Kubert run on Batman has certainly started off with a bang and the end of the last issue indicated that this issue ought to be a very fun read. I don’t know how long it’ll last, given Grant Morrison’s tendency to get really weird, but right now this comic is excellent. Batman is good again – it’s been a long time, but it sure is nice to see again…

Civil War: Frontline #6 – What’s going to happen to Speedball?! He’s being transferred to that freakish prison in the Negative Zone, and you definitely get the feeling he’s in for a world of trouble. There are only four more issues left after this one; so we’re most of the way there; I hope thing start resolving soon…

Eternals #4 – Okay, I admit it. I thought this series was going to be terrible. I just didn’t see any way even Neil Gaiman could salvage The Eternals and make them worth reading. I WAS WRONG. This book has been a consistent must-read. Check it out – it’s worth it.

Heroes for Hire #2 – This has been one of the more fun books tying in to the whole Civil War story, and the first issue did not disappoint. Expect more of the same in this issue as the lovely ladies (and Humbug!) of Heroes for Hire start running in high powered vigilantes, some of whom used to be their friends.

Jack of Fables #3 – Every bit as good as the regular Fables title, this series has been turning heads. Jack has declared that Mr. Revise cannot hold him, and he’s plotting his escape. In this issue…well, let’s see what happens. I’m looking forward to it!

Justice League of America #2 – The big three at DC – Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman – are still putting the JLA back together. Last issue focused intently on Red Tornado. Who will it be this issue?! Check out the team Brad Meltzer is putting together; the JLA should be kicking all kinds of tail before long.

Ramayan 3392 AD #1 – The ancient Indian legend of Ramayan gets a facelift in this story in a new time period and an altered setting. All of the books from Virgin Comics (think Virgin Records, Virgin Airlines, etc.) have been excellent – highly reminiscent of the early offerings from CrossGen. Definitely give this a read!

Ultimate Spider-Man #100 – This book is getting weirder and weirder as people we thought were out of the picture are reemerging, and Spidey and MJ appear to be in a heap of trouble. What the heck is Bendis smoking?! Whatever it is, I hope he keeps it up, because this book has been really good and looks like it’s still going strong. Happy 100, Ultimate Spidey!

Ultimates 2 #12 – At long last, the next installment of the Ultimates! This book takes forever between issues, but it’s always worth it. What an awesome story it’s been so far! This issue picks up where the last issue left off, with the Ultimates trying to clean up after a hugely destructive battle that threatened to destroy the United States. You know you want to pick up this issue, the penultimate chapter of Ultimates 2, ASAP!

That’s all I’ve got time to jaw about today, but there are several other great looking titles shipping this week too. Head on down to the store and help us pay the rent!

See you at Haven!
