Thanksgiving Comics!! (11-22-06)

OK, after the stupendous size of the past two weeks of comics orders, I figured the Wednesday before Thanksgiving was going to be a pretty slow, calm day with a relatively small order. WRONG!! This week’s order is just a hair shy of being as big as last week’s colossally huge order. Since we’re closed next Thursday for Thanksgiving, make sure you come down Wednesday and get all your comics! You don’t want to miss anything in the mad rush of day-after-Thanksgiving sales!

Amazing Spider-Man #536 CW – Spider-Man has, at long last, figured out that he’s on the wrong side of this Civil War, and he’s doing his best to get out of the mess he’s in. Since Spider-Man is a registered superhero, Tony Stark had no provocation for attacking him when he overheard Spidey (via his bugged costume!) planning to change sides, and then, when Spidey got away, he sent some villains after him?! This is getting waaaay out of hand!

Civil War: Frontline #8 – So, on his way to trial, Speedball got ambushed and shot. That ain’t good. Let’s see what happens from here, for crying out loud! This title has been, in my opinion, better than the principal title in the Civil War saga; Paul Jenkins has been doing a bang-up job on this limited series, and you really feel for all the characters involved. Highly recommended!!

Fables: 1001 Nights of Snowfall HC – Finally, I’ve got my hands on a few more copies of this incredible book! Each story in this book features art by a different artistic team, running the gamut from Charles Vess and Mike Kaluta to James Jean and Jill Thompson, and it is phenomenal. This book is absolutely a must-read, even if you’ve never read a Fables book in your life – this is a prequel; so you can still get in on the ground floor with this series!

Jack of Fables #5 – Jack has made it over the fence, and he’s on the run now! Revise is, of course, out to recapture him; so look out, Fugitive! This Fables spin-off has been an irreverent and very enjoyable book – if you’re a Fables fan, you absolutely should be reading this. If you’re not a Fables fan yet, you should be reading both!

Ptolus, City by the Spire #2 - We sold out of the first issue of this phenomenal series 3 times, which means, if you want a copy of this issue and you're not signed up for it, you better pick it up quick! This fabulous series by Monte Cook has been awesome. I've been anxiously awaiting the 2nd issue and, at long last, it's here! Pick it up ASAP!

Punisher War Journal #1 CW – The Punisher has finally stepped into the Civil War, and he’s getting a new series to commemorate the occasion. With art by Ariel Olivetti, this one ought to be good. You’ll definitely want to check this out.

Red Menace #1 – The McCarthy trials are well under way in this new series from DC when the unexpected happens. America’s greatest superhero is called on the carpet as a possible communist! This series looks like a great read, and it looks thought-provoking on top of that. Pick it up and see what it’s all about.

Ultimate Spider-Man #102 – I was hoping the last issue would clear up some the craziness that’s going on in Ultimate Spider-Man right now, but all it did was stir it up some! There’s a lot of freakiness flying around these pages right now, but it’s intriguing, and I can’t wait to see how it all gets resolved. Plus, Bendis and Bagley are just two issues away from breaking Stan Lee and Jack Kirby’s record for the longest continuous run on any book by a creative team. Yes, that’s a big deal, folks! All aboard!

Wonder Woman #3 – Once upon a time, I heard that DC put out a Wonder Woman comic book. Apparently, every once in a while, that story has some truth to it! It’s late as all get out, but, at long last, here is Wonder Woman #3! What the heck is happening to Donna Troy? How did she get her tail kicked so fast?! Is Diana Prince going to take the mantle of Wonder Woman back up?! What the heck – just pick it up and read this bad boy, er, girl ASAP!

See you at Haven!!
