End League #1 - A thematic merging of The Lord of the Rings and Watchmen, The End League follows a cast of the last remaining supermen and women as they embark on a desperate and perilous journey through a world dominated by evil, in hopes of locating the one remaining artifact that can save humanity-the Hammer of Thor. For his return to the world of comics renowned artist Mat Broome (WildC.A.T.S.) teams up with critically acclaimed writer Rick Remender (Fear Agent) for this, Dark Horse Comics's newest superhero series.
Gravel #0 – This is the first issue in a new ongoing series featuring the character William Gravel, the star of Strange Kiss. The creation of writer Warren Ellis (Black Summer) and artist Mike Wolfer (Streets of Glory), Strange Kiss was a series of six mini-series Avatar published from 1999 to 2004. If you’re a Warren Ellis fan, well, this is more of the same hard-hitting stuff he’s famous for at the indie publishers.
North Wind #1 - From the creator of the ABC TV show Traveler! An Ice Age Mad Max that's a blockbuster action story in widescreen style! Civilization itself is at risk as a new hero is born into a futuristic, barbaric time period. A tyrant has risen, and his reign will clash with the arrival of The North Wind! This one looks awesome, folks – Definitely give it a try!
Shark-Man #1 - the story of a death-row prisoner forced to protect a Utopian city from the cancer of organized crime. Imagine 1930's Chicago crossed with a futuristic Venice, Italy. Tom Gaskill has been falsely convicted of murder and the theft of an entire city's wealth. Now he must protect New Venice City, the ocean city his father built, with the help of a submarine designed to be the ocean's greatest weapon. Sounds like an iffy book, but everything I’ve read about this suggests it’s worth checking out.
Ultimate Human #1 - It’s the Ultimate war between the Hulk and Iron Man! Desperate for a cure to his dark disease, scientist Bruce Banner begs Tony Stark for a release from the curse of the Hulk! Stark agrees, but in the midst of the experimentation, something goes horribly wrong. And you know what happens next: man and monster collide! Be there as writer Warren Ellis (Ultimate Galactus) begins his next Ultimate epic—and is joined by amazing artist Cary Nord (Conan)!
Wildstorm Revelations #1 - a biweekly 6-part adventure to save the WildStorm Universe by writers Scott Beatty (BATGIRL: YEAR ONE) & Christos Gage (STORMWATCH: PHD, WILDSTORM ARMAGEDDON) and rising-star artist Wes Craig! But can anything stem the tide of darkness? Step one to fitting together the pieces of the intricate puzzle: infiltrate the world's most powerful and influential super-humans' headquarters and raid their database!

Michael Straczynski and Joe Quesada. Brace yourself, Spidey fans; after this, nothing will be the same for Peter Parker! The stakes have never been higher. At his darkest hours -- and he's had plenty -- Peter has always had one shoulder to lean on, one person who'd remind him who he is, who he was, and who he can be. Now he's about to lose that person. What will he do...what would you do, if you only had 'One More Day?' I know what I’d do – I’d run out and make an appointment wit’ da fishes in the Hudson for one Joe Quesada. That’s what I’d do.

Now that Ra’s al Ghul is back, please return to your regularly scheduled Grant Morrison weirdness.

Ben Grimm has been keeping a secret from his teammates for years. But when Reed, Sue and Johnny investigate, the mystery brings them to the tropics, face-to-face with an old nemesis and a monstrous creature known as…EL CHUPACABRAS!! All we can say is, '¡¡QUE EL MÍO SEA MARVEL!!

If you ask nicely, they’ll even autograph it for you, ladies and gentlemen.
Long Count #1 (of 6) – According to the Mayan calendar, which has proven to be eerily accurate over the course of time, 2012 is the year of the Long Count. For anyone wondering, that’s not good. That means it’s the end of the world; our 5,000 year cycle is over, and the world is ending. This book is based on that premise, and should definitely be worth checking out.
Robert E. Howard’s Conan: The Frost Giant’s Daughter 1-Shot – That’s right, all you Howard/Conan fans, it’s Conan’s 75th Birthday! While the Cimmerian may be seasoned, he's still going strong, as Dark Horse celebrates the barbarian's birthday with the first in a series of special-edition reprints of their adaptations of Robert E. Howard stories--with cover art by definitive Conan illustrator Frank Frazetta. The Frost Giant's Daughter reprints Conan #2 and features Frazetta's origal cover painting "The Frost Giants," first seen on the jacket of Lancer's 1969 edition Conan of Cimmeria. This was a great issue in this fabulous series, so if you’ve been hesitant to check out Conan’s latest comic series, give this a whirl.
Watchmen TP – One of the classic comic stories in the history of the medium, every self-respecting comic geek should read this book at least once. Also, there’s a movie coming out next year that promises to be very, very good. If it’s been a while since you’ve read it and you want to give your memory a good kickstart, picking up this trade would be the way to do it.

Things get more complicated, however, with a visit from Advanced Idea Mechanics. Also, as an added bonus: a special back-up story by Macon Blair (24Seven) and Vasilis Lolos (Pirates of Coney Island).
World War Hulk: Warbound #1 - The puny humans hate the Warbound, the savage alien monsters who joined the Hulk in his quest for vengeance against the heroes of Earth. But when new horrors arise in the New Mexico desert, the puny humans might just learn that a savage alien monster or two can be pretty handy in a pinch. What is Gammaworld? Which deadly enemy from the Hulk's past has returned? And who here dares to learn what it is to be Warbound, in life and death, whatever may come?

Brandon Sanderson, author of the fantasy "Mistborn" series, will finish Robert Jordan's final novel. Jordan, whose real name was James Oliver Rigney Jr., died from a blood disease in September in South Carolina. He was working on the 12th book in his "Wheel of Time" fantasy series at the time of his death. More than 44 million books in the "Wheel of Time" series have been sold worldwide, according to publisher Tor Books. The final book is titled "A Memory of Light." "To me, Robert Jordan is still kind of a mythological figure," Sanderson told the Daily Herald of Provo. "I would have done this with no credit and no payment, to be perfectly honest."
Sanderson, whose first novel, "Elantris," was published in 2005, has four books in print. Jordan's widow and the book's editor, Harriet Popham Rigney, said she was "absolutely delighted" that Sanderson agreed to finish it. "He left copious notes and hours of audio recordings," Rigney said in a statement on Tor Books' Web site. Jordan's books tells of Rand al'Thor, who is destined to become the champion who will battle ultimate evil in a mythical land. The first title in the series, "The Eye of the World," was published in 1990.

Ant Unleashed #1 – The Ant started out as an underground comic character, like most independent books do, and she’s now on her 3rd or 4th publisher. Hopefully, this new publisher will provide a more permanent home for this very cool character. If you haven’t read Ant before, you should definitely give it a try; this is cool stuff!
Bat Lash #1 (of 6) – Will he save the West - or ruin it? Acclaimed Western novelist Peter Brandvold (Rogue Lawman, .45-Caliber Deathtrap) teams up with Bat Lash co-creator Sergio Aragones (Groo, MAD) to answer that question as BAT LASH begins! This 6-issue miniseries recounts the origin story of the most unusual cowboy of them all as young Bat Lash braves a corrupt sheriff and a greedy rancher just to woo a rancher's lovely daughter. With interior art by the legendary John Severin (DESPERADOES) and beautiful covers by Walter Simonson, BAT LASH is a classic Western high adventure made fresh and exciting for today! Western comics are back in a big way, thanks to the awesome Lone Ranger comic, and this one looks really, really good. Check it out!
Darkness #1 – Marc Silvestri’s Darkness character has been in and out of comics for the past several years, with hit and miss storylines. Salvation Run #2 (of 7) – The people of the DC Universe’s Earth are tired of having their lives thrown into chaos by rampaging, high powered villains. So they find a planet far, far away that is relatively danger free and will support life, then they send all the bad guys there, with no way to get back. This is one heck of a penal colony, with the worst of the worst of the DC villains, all having to get along with each other in order to survive. This is some good stuff, folks! You should be reading this!
Ultimate Iron Man II #1 (of 4) – Orson Scott Card is back, chronicling the history of Ultimate Iron Man! The previous Ultimate Iron Man mini-series kind of left us hanging, so this new series is a welcome addition to the Ultimate universe catalogue. Dan Dare #1 (of 7) - Virgin Comics is bringing Dan Dare: Pilot of the Future out of retirement to star in a new line of comics and a big-screen adaptation. Variety reports that the classic British science fiction character is a favorite of Virgin’s Richard Branson, who spearheaded the effort to acquire publishing, film, television and video game rights to the Frank Hampson creation. The new comic, which debuts in November, will be written by Garth Ennis. “Dan Dare is the quintessential British hero,” Ennis tells the trade paper. “He’s our Captain America, our Superman, our Batman; he’s all of them rolled into one.” Dare first appeared in April 1950 in the Eagle weekly comics.

And what of Agent 13, Sharon Carter, who shot the final bullets into her true love, Steve Rogers, and has seen her life fall apart since then? Much as I hate to say it, this book has been really good, other than the whole Captain America being dead thing.
Detective Comics #838 (Ghul) - "The Resurrection of Ra's al Ghul," Part 3 of 7! Batman and I-Ching track down Ra's and Talia to their hideout while Nightwing pursues Robin! For the first time in over a decade, Wagner returns to the character that made him famous to reveal the biggest secret of Rose's illustrious and bloody career as Grendel! In other words, this is some good stuff, and you should read it.

The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen have been disbanded and disavowed, and the country is under the control of an iron-fisted regime. As Allan and Mina delve into the details of their precursors, some dating back centuries, they must elude their dangerous pursuers who are hellbent on retrieving the lost manuscript…and ending the League once and for all. THE BLACK DOSSIER is an elaborately designed, cutting-edge volume that includes a "Tijuana Bible" insert and a 3-D section complete with custom glasses, as well as additional text pieces, maps, and a stunning cutaway double-page spread of Captain Nemo's Nautilus submarine by Kevin O'Neill. Don't miss what's sure to be one of the most talked-about books of 2007! A whopping 208 pages.
Thunderbolts: Breaking Point - The two longest serving members of the Thunderbolts—Songbird and Moonstone—are on a collision course with each other in Thunderbolts: Breaking Point! Acclaimed author Christos Gage (World War Hulk: X-Men, House Of M: Avengers), fan favorite penciler Brian Denham (Nova) and cover artist Marko Djurdjevic team up for this look for at the tenuous relationship between a pair of diametrically opposed Thunderbolts members. Songbird is working to prevent Moonstone from corrupting the team and Moonstone would be happy to just kill Songbird in the field. But is there a more effective way to remove Songbird from the picture? And a familiar face from Songbird's past makes their long-awaited return! Will the conflict between Songbird and Moonstone tear the Thunderbolts apart?
What If?! Annihilation - In What If? Annihilation, the valiant heroes Nova, Drax, Phyla-Vell and Peter Quill fail to halt Annihilus and his murderous rampage across the universe. And eventually the tyrant from the Negative Zone brings his devastating armies to Earth, during the height of both Civil War and Silent War! In the face of a far greater enemy, Marvel heroes struggle to mend their broken alliances. But can both sides work together in spite of the broken trust and newfound animosity?

He has never got the popularity of Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman or Spider-man, but he is a hero that many of us grew up to. Either in comic books or on Saturday morning cartoons, Aquaman was a part of that trivia of our youth.
Aquaman is a superhero in DC Comics that was created by Paul Norris ( and Mort Weisinger,) for More Fun Comics # 73 (Nov. 1941). Initially a backup feature for the main attraction of Superboy, Aquaman was later featured in his own title multiple times. Nearly two decades later, during the superhero-revival period known as the Silver Age of Comic Books, he was a founding member of the Justice League of America. Aquaman has also appeared in animated and live-action television programs. Most will remember him from the Super Friends or the long running Aquaman cartoon show in the 60's.
The man who help create Aquaman, Paul Norris, has taken his Final Taxi at the age of 93.
Born on April 26, 1914 in Greenville, Ohio, Norris studied at Midland Lutheran College and at the Dayton Art Institute before being hired for the Dayton Daily News as an illustrator and cartoonist. In 1939, he headed to New York to seek a better job. By 1940, he was drawing comics for Prize Publications, where he created such "star strips" as Yank and Doodle, Power Nelson and Futureman.
Norris was at DC Comics in 1941. There, he and editor-writer Weisinger created Aquaman.
His first credit with DC is a revamp of the Sandman. Sandman has always been my favorite super hero. The simple green three-piece suit with purple cape and a gas mask was something I could see someone wearing instead of the tights and cape. Norris thought otherwise and followed what was popular for the time giving Sandman yellow and purple tights and a boy sidekick. It worked for the time period but I was glad he turned back gas masked hero many years later.
During WW II Norris illustrated propaganda leaflets to be dropped from aircraft over Okinawa, urging Japanese soldiers to surrender. After the war he worked with the King Features Syndicate as a "troubleshooter" with such adventure strips as Flash Gordon and Secret Agent X-9.
I the 1950s, Norris drew issues of Dell Comics' Tom Corbett, Space Cadet and Jungle Jim, the latter of which he had previously drawn as a newspaper comic strip. The following decade, he drew stories of jungle adventurer Tarzan and science-fiction hero Magnus, Robot Fighter in comic books for Gold Key Comics. He also drew one of my favorite DC speedsters Johnny Quick.
Later he drew comics for Marvel of Hanna-Barbera characters including Yogi Bear, Scooby Doo, and Dyno-mutt.
Noted as one of the last of the great creators of Golden Age DC superheroes, Aquaman stories still get a "Created by Paul Norris" credit on them.
Fresh from CNN:
LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- Marvel is putting some of its older comics online Tuesday, hoping to reintroduce young people to the X-Men and Fantastic Four by showcasing the original issues in which such characters appeared.
Marvel Comics, and other comic book companies, are putting their product online. It's a tentative move onto the Internet: Comics can only be viewed in a Web browser, not downloaded, and new issues will only go online at least six months after they first appear in print. Still, it represents perhaps the comics industry's most aggressive Web push yet. Even as their creations -- from Iron Man to Wonder Woman -- become increasingly visible in pop culture through new movies and video games, old-school comics publishers rely primarily on specialized, out-of-the-way comic shops for distribution of their bread-and-butter product.
"You don't have that spinner rack of comic books sitting in the local five-and-dime any more," said Dan Buckley, president of Marvel Publishing. "We don't have our product intersecting kids in their lifestyle space as much as we used to." Translate "kids' lifestyle space" into plain English and you get "the Internet."
Marvel's two most prominent competitors currently offer online teasers designed to drive the sales of comics or book collections. Dark Horse Comics now puts its monthly anthologies "Dark Horse Presents" up for free viewing on its MySpace site. The images are vibrant and large. DC Comics has also put issues up on MySpace, and recently launched the competition-based Zuda Comics, which encourages users to rank each other's work, as a way to tap into the expanding Web comic scene. Company president Paul Levitz said he expects to put more original comics online in coming years. (DC Comics is a unit of Time Warner, as is CNN.) "We look at anything that connects comics to people," Levitz said. "The most interesting thing about the online world to me is the opportunity for new forms of creativity. ... It's a question of what forms of storytelling work for the Web?" For its mature Vertigo imprint, DC offers weekly sneak peeks at the first five or six pages of upcoming issues. The publisher also gives out downloadable PDF files of the first issues in certain series, timed to publication of the series in book or graphic novel format.
The Web release of DC's "Y the Last Man" sent sales of that book collection soaring at Bridge City Comics in Portland, Oregon, the shop's owner Michael Ring said. "They really do tend to be feeder systems," Ring said of online comics. "They give people that initial taste." For Marvel, the general public has often already gotten its initial taste through movies like "Spider-Man" or the "Fantastic Four" franchises.
The publisher is hoping fans will be intrigued enough about the origins of those characters to shell out $9.99 a month, or $4.99 monthly with a year-long commitment. For that price, they'll be able to poke through, say, the first 100 issues of Stan Lee's 1963 creation "Amazing Spider-Man" at their leisure, along with more recent titles like "House of M" and "Young Avengers." Comics can be viewed in several different formats, including frame-by-frame navigation. Ring expects Marvel's effort to put a slight dent in the back-issue segment of the comic shop industry, where rare, out-of-print titles sell for hundreds of dollars on eBay and at trade shows. Though most comic fans are collectors, some simply want to catch up on the backstory of their favorite characters and would no longer have to pay top dollar to do so.
About 2,500 issues will be available at launch of Marvel Digital Comics, with 20 more being released each week.

The team behind the acclaimed Union Jack, Christos (World War Hulk: X-Men) Gage and Mike (Captain America) Perkins, reunite to bring you Marvel's heroes and villains in a world where anything can happen...and does!
League of Extraordinary Gentlemen: Black Dossier HC Variant - Acclaimed writer Alan Moore once again joins forces with artist Kevin O'Neill for THE BLACK DOSSIER - a stunning original hardcover graphic novel that is the next chapter in the fantastic saga of THE LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN! England in the mid-1950s is not the same as it was. The powers that be have instituted some changes. The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen have been disbanded and disavowed, and the country is under the control of an iron-fisted regime. Now, after many years, the still youthful Mina Murray and a rejuvenated Allan Quatermain return in search of some answers - answers that can only be found in a book buried deep in the vaults of their old headquarters - a book that holds the key to the hidden history of the League throughout the ages: The Black Dossier. Salvation Run #1 (of 7) - The good folks of Earth have finally had enough of the DCU villains and so the bad folks are being exiled to another planet where they'll be left to their own diabolical devices. You put a bunch of bad dudes in a room and they almost always have a fight and then form shaky alliances. I think we can expect more of the same in Salvation Run but on a much larger scale. Also, this is written by Bill Willingham, of Fables fame, with art by Sean Chen, so it’s going to be good. This is definitely one of the books to watch out for!
World of Warcraft #1 – A new ongoing series based on the world’s most popular massively multiplayer videogame kicks off with part 1 of a 6-part story arc written by Walter Simonson (Thor, Superman) and illustrated by sensational French artist Ludo Lullabi & Sandra Hope (JLA)!

Enslaved by the Orc Shaman Rehgar Earthfury, this man must fight for survival against members of both the Alliance and the Horde, striking uneasy relationships with other races in his quest to find the secrets of his past! Much as I’m surprised to say this, this should be a really good comic, folks! Walt Simonson knows what he’s doing, and just about everybody on the planet seems to love the source material, so definitely check this out!
World War Hulk #5 (of 5) – How does it all end? Does the Hulk have pity and spare the world, or does he decide to finish it? Perhaps more important – who wins? Hulk or the Sentry? I say that a million exploding suns can’t stand up to an angry Hulk. I really hope I’m right!! Check it out, people!

Annihilation Conquest #1 (of 6) – Just like last year’s surprise hit, Annihilation, Conquest pulls Marvel’s cosmic lineup back into the limelight and pits them all against a hugely formidable foe. The cosmic heroes who are still standing are defending the universe against the Phalanx, an opportunistic Borg-like organism looking to conquer a universe weakened by Annihilus’ Annihilation Wave that nearly destroyed everything. Much as it surprises me to say it, having never been a fan of any of Marvel’s cosmic characters, these are some extremely good stories. WELL WORTH checking out, folks!
Cairo HC - Set in bustling modern-day Cairo, this magical-realism thriller interweaves the lives of a drug runner, a down-on-his-luck journalist, an American expatriate, a young activist, an Israeli soldier, and a genie as they navigate the city's streets and spiritual underworld to find a stolen hooka sought by a wrathful gangster-magician. Sounds odd, yes, but this new graphic novel from Vertigo is getting a lot of really good buzz. If you liked Pride of Baghdad or if you’re a Fables fan, this should definitely garner a look-see.
Groo: Hell on Earth #1 (of 4) – Sergio Aragones’ Groo is back! Once a staple of the monthly comic book world, Groo disappeared for a long while. We started seeing new appearances a year or two back, and now he’s got a new limited series! If you’re already a Groo fan, you’ll definitely want to pick this up. If you don’t know who/what Groo is, there’s no real good way to explain it – you’ll just have to check it out and see for yourself!
Heroes HC - Yes, this is the TV show. We've got a lot of huge fans of the show at Haven, so toss your hats in the ring early if you want to get your hands on this handsome hardcover!
Silver Surfer: In Thy Name #1 (of 4) - In Thy Name takes Surfer into the farthest depths of space where he discovers a threat he can’t ignore! In this timely and relevant tale of a utopia taken over by an enlightened group who subjugate the masses in the name of the greater good, the Silver Surfer is drawn into their conflict and must choose a side. But can he possibly take action when he may be dealing with powers far greater—and deadlier—than his own? With the combination of dirty politics, organ stealing pirates, demonic beasts and more enemies waiting in the shadows, the former herald of Galactus is about to find out that heaven can indeed be hell!
Thunderbolts vol 1 HC: Faith in Monsters – Warren Ellis and Mike Deodato Jr’s run on Thunderbolts has been nothing short of AWESOME. This is one of the best comics out there right now, period. Ellis’ handling of this nasty rogue’s gallery taking down B-list heroes for the government in the name of registration is just incredible. He takes these little known characters no one cares about and makes you wish they had their own book. Really, when was the last time you cared about a character like Jack Flag or American Eagle? And Deodato’s artwork is spectacular. This is the first trade collecting issues from their amazing run – definitely pick this up, if you haven’t already.
Uncanny X-Men #492 MC – The Messiah Complex story continues! Last week’s one-shot, kicking off this huge crossover event, really hit the ground running and, if Brubaker can keep up the momentum, this is going to be huge. This is old-school, when-they-were-really-really-good X-Men, and I’m looking forward to more. Get in on the ground floor with this one, folks!
See you at Haven!

X-Men: Messiah Complex One Shot
Batman: Hong Kong SC – DC is on a roll with their re-releases of some of the great Batman Elseworlds stories! This is a very different take, especially visually, on the Batman story. In Hong Kong, bats are more colorful and fanciful, like their dragons, than are their Gothamite counterparts, and Batman’s suit reflects that, along with some samurai/bushido influences. It’s a different look, but it’s awesome. This is a must read!
Crime Bible: The Five Lessons of Blood #1 (of 5) – Greg Rucka is finally writing a crime series again! This time, it features the new Question. All in all, this is the kind of thing Rucka does best, so definitely tune in and give this book a shot. It should be worth it.
Deadworld: Frozen Over #1 (of 4) - With New York snowed in, the survivors attempt to escape the city before the thaw comes. But not only must they deal with the harsh weather and the thousands of zombies wandering the streets of NewYork, they will have to deal with the baddest zombie of them all - King Zombie. But why is the King searching for Kolin Fleet and his band? And what deal did the King strike with the terrifying zombie known as the Giant in order to find them?
El Cazador vol 1 TP – Remember CrossGen? Remember that awesome Chuck Dixon/Steve Epting book about pirates? Yeah, CrossGen went the way of the dodo a while back, and that sucks, but you can still get your hands on this beauty of a story! If you haven’t read it, you’ll want to pick this one up. If you have read the issues, the trade would be a great addition to your library – this is a phenomenal book!
Necromancer Pilot Season #1 – A couple of years back, Image put out a surprisingly good limited series called Necromancer, about a teenage girl who, with her friends, delve into an old book and start messing around with things they shouldn’t. Turns out, the one girl summons a demon and, well, the rest of her friends don’t make it…and that was just the first issue! The quality of this book, both the story and the art, was a major surprise – if this new issue is nearly as good, it’ll be a series well worth supporting. Give it a look-see.
X-Men: Messiah Complex One Shot - The biggest event to hit the X-Men in ten years is here! Superstars Ed Brubaker (UNCANNY X-MEN, CAPTAIN AMERICA) and Marc Silvestri (UNCANNY X-MEN, NEW X-MEN) bring you the first chapter of the story that fans will be talking about for years. Just when it looked like there was no possibility of a future for mutants, hope arrives. But the X-Men aren’t there to meet it—The Marauders and Purifiers beat them to it. Now the race is on to get the first new mutant since HOUSE OF M! The story that begins here continues through all the X-Men books. This is supposed to be a landmark event, catapulting the X-Men back into prominence after languishing for years as a pretty mediocre cadre of books. Don’t miss it!

Batman: Gotham by Gaslight TP – One of the best Elseworlds stories of all time is available again in trade paperback! A seminal Mike Mignola story that any Batman fan worth his salt should read, this was also one of the highlights of DC’s Elseworlds run. You’ve gotta read this one.
Countdown Special: The Flash 80-Pg Giant - The first in a series of 80-page specials, featuring classic stories of The Flash and his legendary Rogues Gallery! This book collects stories from the Silver Age comics The Flash #106, #113, #155 and #174, showcasing the first full appearance of the Rogues Galler, the Trickster, Pied Piper and more! Written by John Broome, art by Carmine Infantino, Joe Giella and Sid Greene, cover by Ryan Sook.
Foolkiller #1 (of 5) - Your notion of justice is about to be turned on its head as one tortured man comes face-to-face with a new kind of vigilante in Foolkiller #1. This is, really, kind of like the Punisher on crack. It’s crazy, but it should be good.
Gotham Underground #1 (of 8) - This 8-part epic explores the underbelly of the DC Universe and ties in to COUNTDOWN! Frank Tieri and COUNTDOWN's J. Calafiore team up to deliver an action-packed tale that features Batman, Robin, Nightwing, Batwoman and just about every other Gotham guest-star imaginable. As more and more evildoers seemingly disappear into thin air, Gotham City finds itself in the midst of a villainous vacuum. Who will rise to commandeer the remainder of Gotham's rogues? As several factions scramble to stake their claim, Batman and friends strategize a counter-attack!
Neozoic #1 - In NEOZOIC, a debut title from publisher Red 5 Comics, there’s nothing special about an 80-foot-long brachiosaurus lumbering past a group of human travelers. It’s been going on for millions of years. However, if those same humans hear the blood-thirty roars of a T-Rex, then it’s time to call the professional super-hunters of the Predator Defense League. Armed only with swords, arrows, warrior cunning, ruthless precision and a lifetime of training, these exceptionally skilled athletes keep the citizens of the walled city of Monanti from becoming a dinosaur’s breakfast. Doesn’t sound like real stories full of excellent characterization, but everything I’ve read about it says it is. Definitely give this one a look-see.
What If?! Planet Hulk - Finally, the one story you demanded: what if Banner, not the Hulk, landed on Sakaar? Could this peaceful planet have tamed the savage Hulk? And then, what if Hulk died and his wife instead led the army against Earth? Hmm. DEFINITELY worth a read.

Or will the fledgling human population find that their days are numbered?
Primordia #1 (of 3) - In a world of primeval fantasy, a wood nymph adopts a pair of human infants abandoned in the ancient forest of the woodfolk, and they grow to exhibit mysterious powers of sorcery. Driniel is the night-wanderer, summoning demons for his arcane pleasures, while his brother Alleyr is the flame of valor, rising to esteem in the ranks of the woodfolk hunters. The Woodking's daughter, Vega, finds herself torn between them, yet even her love for them cannot sway her father when their brutal natures manifest, and his judgment is severe: exile back into the savage world of Man!

Howard the Duck #1 (OF 4) - It's 2007, Steve Gerber is not writing for Marvel and yet there is a new Howard the Duck mini-series coming out. Why? The character has never proven successful as anything beyond a means for Gerber to kick pop culture in the groin and nick its wallet. When he stopped writing the original series in 1978, after one of the earliest and most publicised creator-rights conflicts in comics, it staggered on without him like a headless chicken before collapsing a few issues later. Marvel's attempt to reinvent the series as a bimonthly magazine in the '80s lasted for just nine issues, though each of them was infinitely superior to the Lucasfilm movie version. The fact that, barring a few random guest spots here and there, nobody bothered with Howard until Gerber returned for the six-issue MAX mini-series in 2001 speaks volumes. By the way, those guest spots were just plain baffling. Who thought it would be a good idea to have Howard the Duck join Generation X to fight Black Tom Cassiday? He is not a superhero, he is a cipher through which the world can be deconstructed by a cynical observer. He is a Vertigo character in the Marvel Universe, trapped in a world he never made.
Lobster Johnson & the Iron Prometheus #2 (of 5) - The Lobster and Jim delve deeper into the sinister forces behind Professor Gallaragas's mysterious disappearance and discover a conspiracy wilder than they could possibly have imagined, with Nazis, Tibetan cultists, and a prophesy whose fulfillment could mean the end of the world . . .
Metamorpho Year One #1 (of 6) - Adventurer Rex Mason is a star — as the host of the reality series Treasure Quest, he travels the world on the hunt for the world's hidden riches, and it's all to help line the pockets of one of the world's richest men: Simon Stagg. When Mason's latest quest leads him to
Omega Unknown #1 (of 10) - The story of a mute, reluctant superhero from another planet, and the earthly teenager with whom he shares a strange destiny -- and the legion of robots and nanoviruses that have been sent from afar to hunt the two of them down. Created in 1975 by Steve Gerber and Mary Skrenes, the original Omega The Unknown lasted only ten issues but was a legend to those who recall it -- an ahead-of-its-time tale of an anti-hero, inflected with brilliant ambiguity. One of Omega's teenage fans was award-winning novelist Jonathan Lethem, who has used the original as a springboard for a superbly strange, funny, and moving graphic novel in ten chapters.
Until something went terribly wrong.
Now, nine years later, the estranged members of the
