Annihilation: Heralds of Galactus (1-Shot) – On the heels of the awesome Annihilation story comes a 1-shot look at some of the major players in that series: the Heralds of Galactus. See what happened to them, how the survivors are going to carry on, and why Silver Surfer is back at the right hand of the Devourer of Worlds. If this is half as good as the Annihilation series, this will be one issue worth picking up for sure.

Civil War: Front Line #11 (OF 11) – Okay, the regular Civil War series is over, and I think it’s safe to say that most Havenites were a bit disappointed in the ending. For further explanation – hopefully for why Cap suddenly had a moment of brain freeze or something – read the last issue of Civil War: Front Line. It’s been the better of the two series all along; hopefully that will prove true of the finale as well.

Jack of Fables vol 1: Nearly Great Escape TP – Pick up the first story arc of this fantastic spin-off from Fables in one fell swoop! The gods of DC/Vertigo have chosen to bestow upon us puny mortals the gifts of trade paperbacks. Pay your respects by picking one up!

Secret History: Book One - In the dawn of prehistory, four immortal brothers and sisters were entrusted with ivory runes by a dying shaman, and told never to use the card together. Now these four immortals, four archons, leapfrog through time, consumed in an epic struggle to influence and shape the history of Western civilization: a secret occult history of the world in seven chapters, beginning with Moses' challenge to the Pharaoh amidst the sands of Egypt.

Templar Chronicles: The Heretic #1 - Adapted from the best selling novel by Joseph Nassise, The Heretic is about an ancient army... reborn. The destruction of the Templar commanderies has sparked a full-scale investigation. Cade Williams, a modern day Knight with a supernatural ability, is charged with the task of hunting down the unholy group hell bent on claiming the legendary power of a lost relic. He will lead the Vatican's most elite military unit, Echo Team, into a most unholy conflict. And let’s be honest – everyone loves Templars.

Brave and the Bold #1 – Some of the greatest team-up stories of all time were told in the pages of Brave and the Bold. Now, at long last, the series has returned, and it features a killer storytelling team in Mark Waid and George Perez. You’re definitely going to want in on this one, folks!

Civil War #7 – And here comes the ultimate Battle Royale in the Marvel universe. With this final issue, there are definitely some big things going on. It has been strongly rumored that Captain America dies in this issue. Anyone wanting to hear my rant on this, should it come to pass, make sure you show next Wednesday at Haven; you’ll get an earful.

Dark Tower: Gunslinger Born #1 – If you missed it the first time around - real easy to do, given how Diamond screwed up their shipment to us – then you’re in luck! We’ve got 10 more copies of the first issue coming in Wednesday! This book looks absolutely gorgeous, and I really enjoyed the story in the first issue as well. Highly Recommended!

Immortal Iron Fist #3 – I love this take on the Iron Fist legend, and I love the way the story of past Iron Fists is being integrated into the story of our current and much beloved Iron Fist, Danny Rand. This is some good stuff, folks!

Legion of Monsters: Werewolf by Night #1 – Marvel is reviving some of their older characters, popular in their respective hey-days, and running them out for a little fresh air in this new Legion of Monsters series. Werewolf by Night gets the refresher treatment first, and with awesome Greg Land art to boot! This book is going to be fun!

New Avengers: Illuminati #2 – I was very pleasantly surprised by the fact that the first issue of this limited series actually moved the Civil War story along a little bit and gave some interesting and relevant background to it. This issue promises more of the same, so pick it up and give it a read if you’re interested to know how we got to Civil War and where it’s going to go from here…

Transformers: Prime Directive (Movie Sequel) #1 – If you’re primed for the new Transformers movie (forgive the pun), then you’re definitely going to want to check this out and get the official word on the movie’s setup. Don’t mind me – I’ll just be over hear busting out cool tunes on my boom box. Wait! AAARRGGGHH!!! That was more than a boom box…

Dwight the Vampire Slayer

Did anyone happen to notice who directed last night's episode of The Office?

That would be our dear friend Joss Whedon.

Astonishing X-Men #20 – Is Colossus truly going to destroy the Breakworld, or is he going to be destroyed instead? That’s pretty much what this story arc is boiling down to. C’mon, guys – can’t we all just be friends?! As always, expect this Joss Whedon/John Cassaday collaboration to be awesome!

Batman #663 – After a pretty pedestrian fill-in story arc by John Ostrander and Tom Mandrake, Grant Morrison and Andy Kubert are back on the Dark Knight. Welcome them back by swinging in and seeing where in the world their story is going to go now. I, for one, can’t wait.

Forgotten Realms: Streams Silver #1 – These Forgotten Realms books almost always manage to slip by me somehow, and we’re out of the first issue by the time I get a chance to read it. No more! These books have been surprisingly good – so if you’re a D&D Forgotten Realms fan, you’re definitely going to want to pick up the first issue of this newest limited series.

Hellshock Definitive Edition vol 1 TP – If you’re a fan of Jae Lee’s artwork, then this book is definitely for you. Hellshock is Jae Lee’s original creation from the mid-nineties, and it’s a fine showcase for his beautiful art. The story isn’t going to win any awards, but this is a gorgeous prequel to the highly stylized art style Jae Lee has developed in recent years. Check it out!

Neil Gaiman’s Neverwhere TP – If you couldn’t stand the monthly release of this 9-issue limited series, then the suspense is over now – the Trade is here! As always, Neil Gaiman’s work is a real mind-twist, but it’s brilliant and fun too. Glenn Fabry isn’t my favorite artist, but his work in this book is adequate to the task. This is a definite must-read for any Neil Gaiman fan!

Thunderbolts #111 – Warren Ellis and Mike Deodato Jr. continue their intriguing new take on the Thunderbolts, and God only knows where this is going – somewhere unpleasant, most likely, knowing Warren Ellis. At any rate, this book about villains earning a shot at redemption by taking on the Unregistered Combatants on Captain America’s side in this Civil War is spectacular. Definitely check this one out!

Thunderbolts Presents: Zemo, Born Better #1 – Baron Zemo, former psycho villain famous for his utter destruction of the Avengers (one of the best Avengers stories ever!), had a change of heart, left his life of crime, and led the original Thunderbolts team. This 4-issue limited series, with excellent art by a more mature Tom Grummet, delves into Zemo’s past, showing us how he got to be the way he is and where he comes from. I’m definitely looking forward to this.

Civil War: Road to Civil War TP – If you want to know how things got where they are in this huge comics event, this trade paperback collects the stories that led to Civil War. Pick it up!

Cthulhu Tales: Rising (1-Shot) – The favorite son of HP Lovecraft comes back to comics in a haunting, freakish nightmare 1-shot. But it’s Cthulhu – what did you expect?!

Dark Tower: Gunslinger Born #1 – At last! The long awaited comic adaptation of Stephen King’s Dark Tower series is here. Originally supposed to debut a year ago, Marvel decided to postpone it until they could guarantee every issue would ship on schedule. It looks beautiful. Jae Lee’s haunting art style, digitally painted over by Richard Isanove (of the original Wolverine Origin story), is perfect for this book. I can’t wait to get my hands on it!!

Ghost Rider: Trail of Tears #1 – Okay, how cool is this?! A Ghost Rider story, set in the 1800’s – that’s cool enough on its own, but it’s written by Garth Ennis and features the incredible artwork of Clayton Crain from cover to cover. That’s right, he’s doing the interiors too! Pick this one up fast, because I don’t have just a ton of these things coming in and they’re going to move!

Helmet of Fate: Sargon the Sorcerer #1 – Round and round it goes; where it lands, nobody knows! The Helmet of Fate is making the rounds, looking for a suitable new hero to become the next DC B-list guy to jump up to the A ranks. Will it be Sargon the Sorcerer?! Somehow, I doubt it, but anything’s possible, right?

X-23: Target X #3 (OF 6) – This mini-series has been surprisingly good, earning it its own little write-up. X23, a continuation of the Weapon X Program that brought us Wolverine and a host of other popular characters, is gaining popularity in her own right. Oh, and Kyle Yost’s artwork, inconsistent and a bit cartoony before, has been superb this time around. Check out this mini-series and enjoy!
