American Wasteland: Blood & Diesel #1 (of 4) - American Wasteland may be one of the best B-movie horror flicks never made. The story by writer R. D. Hall is the cross-country quest of a truck driver named Cletus McCoy who just wants to save his mama from a vampire apocalypse (don't we all?). How can you not want to pick that up and give it a look-see?

Gamekeeper #1 - There is no one left alive who knows the secret of Brock's dark past. Now, as the Gamekeeper of a sprawling English country estate, he quietly tends to a world where natural law presides and mankind comes only if invited. But when armed killers invade his sanctuary in search of the truth, they get more than they bargained for -- and Brock finds himself forced to hunt a prey more cunning and lethal than anything in the wild. Can’t you just hear the deep-voiced movie preview guy saying that? Anyway, this is another title shipping from Virgin Comics, and all their stuff has been worth checking out so far. Give it a shot!

Half Dead TP - Now. Terrorism is rife, but after today, your life may never be the same again. A ballerina, Romany, gets on a train in the London Underground, a strange gas attack turns her into a half-dead vampire. During the contaiment and cleanup of this attack, she's captured by a government agency formed to battle the vampire threat, PASA (the Bureau of ParaHuman and Supernatural Affairs). Romany's a remarkable subject, and after some training she is paired with her handler, Ian, also one of a very few survivors of a vampire attack. Ian turns her into a force to be reckoned with... The cogs of an evil machine are turning within the winding streets of London; disaster looms on the horizon; they can strike anywhere at any time. What is PASA willing to do to stop them? Sounds weird, but it sounds good too. I’m looking forward to checking this one out.

Unique #1 (of 3) - Jon thinks he's seeing things that aren't there -- until he discovers that he's slipping into an alternate world! Jon is a Unique, one of the few people with no counterpart on any other parallel Earth, enabling him to move between worlds at will. But now that ability has made him a target... A battle that spans worlds, and just might destroy those worlds! Written by Dean Motter, art and color by Dennis Calero. And, yes, you’re unique too…just like everyone else.

Virulents (One Shot) #1 - A small platoon of American soldiers in search of their missing comrades comes across Indian commandoes looking for a group of terrorists suspected of hiding a most heinous weapon in the craggy breast of the Hindu Kush. It's a night of revelation as the Americans discover the fate of their lost brothers, and the Indians discover the fate of their terrorists. But terror is not in the form of flesh and blood, or bullets or gunpowder. Terror has a new name. But we can’t tell you what it is – it’s too terrifying. Seriously though, this book looks really good and, again, it’s from the very smart guys at Virgin Comics; give it a whirl!

See you at Haven!
