Annihilation Conquest: Starlord #1 (of 4) - When last we saw him in the critically acclaimed Annihilation: Conquest Prologue, Earthman Peter Quill was betrayed and left for dead. Now the legend of Star-Lord rises again, courtesy of Keith Giffen and hot new penciller Timothy Green II. This StarLord, a sci-fi homage to Sgt. Fury and his Howling commandos, is an action book with a sense of humor. Assigned a suicide mission to save a galaxy, Quill puts together a rag-tag battalion of classic cosmic characters that includes: Bug, Captain Universe, Deathcry, Mantis, Groot and Rocket Raccoon! This cosmic band-of-brothers bravely takes-up arms against the unstoppable-assimilating horde that is the Phalanx. But what hope does the handful of out-numbered and out-gunned heroes have facing such impossible odds? Yes, I said Rocket Raccoon.

Black Summer #1 (of 7) - This summer, the world goes black as Warren Ellis unveils his all-new super-powered heroes and villains epic that promises to be the biggest event of 2007! With art by Juan Jose Ryp, no fan of The Authority or Wanted will want to miss this bleeding-edge masterpiece. When the political situation in the USA becomes more than Horus can stand, he moves to take matters into his own hands. But since all his other team-mates aren’t so eager to throw the world into chaos, an epic conflict starts to form. And no one will be safe as the bodies start to fall. It’s Warren Ellis. It’ll be good.

Doktor Sleepless #1 – This is Warren Ellis Week! He's called his new book "The New Transmetropolitan," so that ought to tell you a little something about what this book will be like. Doktor Sleepless is a new creator-owned ongoing series following a self-described "Mad Scientist" who, for purposes not quite yet visible, has remade himself as a catalyst for change. With the idea of change being a bitter pill for anyone to swallow, the newly-dubbed Doktor Sleepless is doing it under a veneer of snark and an almost cartoonish candor.
The best summation I've seen of the series so far has been a line Ellis mentioned on his Livejournal: "Someone stole your future. Don't you ever wonder who?"

Dust #1 (of 2) - THE DIRTY DOZEN versus robots, zombies and more! Jump into battle as the Allies and the Sino-Soviet Union join forces to fight the evil Axis; a powerful group (Germany, Japan and Africa) whose plans to dominate the world are bolstered by their amazing weapons - built using alien technology taken from a crashed space ship. A bizarre, obviously alternate history WWII story - oh, and it features scantily clad hot chicks with big guns. I'm betting there's an audience out ther for this. Somewhere.

Grendel: Behold the Devil #0 – Matt Wagner’s long-standing indie creation, Grendel, is back for more! Grendel has been around forever, in one form or another, always changing, always adapting to tell a different story. This time, the original Grendel, Hunter Rose, is back. A best-selling novelist by day and criminal overlord by night, Hunter Rose was the most feared individual ever to wear the mantle of Grendel. Long known only through journals discovered after his death, the mysterious life of Hunter Rose gives up a few more of its secrets when newly uncovered documents expose a previously unknown chapter in the life of this legendary assassin and underworld power-player. Hey, and this issue is only 50 cents. You can’t beat that.

Incredible Hulk #108 – World War Hulk continues! After #2 hit the shelves last week – and I’ve got another handful of WWH #2 trickling in this week – I can’t wait to see what shakes out in this issue of Incredible Hulk. He’s got his Warbound with him, but he’s also teamed up now with some of his old friends – you know, the ones who didn’t launch him into space. Can’t wait to see where this goes!

Thor #1 (Variant Covers) – If you missed Thor #1 a couple of weeks ago, or you’re just dying to get your hands on a variant cover, you’re in luck! All my Thor #1 variant copies ship this week – Finally. Thanks, Diamond – so you’ve got a shot at snagging one of these bad boys. Email me early and let me know if you want one – these are going out on a first come, first served basis!

See you at Haven!
