John Byrne's Next Men Return!! (10-25-10)

You know how, sometimes, something can be picked up off the shelf and dusted off and it looks just as good as new? I'm really hoping the return of John Byrne's Next Men turns out like that. When it first hit the shelves in the early '90s, it was part of Dark Horse's Icons imprint - the same imprint that started Hellboy and Sin City - and John Byrne's books (he had a few under this imprint) were really, really good, but they somehow never attained the cult status of Mike Mignola's and Frank Miller's creations.

IDW thinks that there's enough left in the Next Men to give them another whirl, almost 20 years after the first time they showed up, and John Byrne is game to revive them too. I'll definitely be there to see how the new series stacks up against the old one, and I've got my fingers crossed.

If you liked the initial run back in the day, give the new series a try when it hits the shelves in a couple of months; if nothing else, it'll be nice to revisit the old characters and see how they're doing. I'm looking forward to this!
